Summary

People are raving about this heavy-duty hammock, so we went and checked why.

Its tested strength, durability, and convenience made this Hanmack 2-person hammock the biggest stand-out among the double hammocks that we’ve used and tested, making it this review’s Editor’s Choice.

I actually kept mine and have used it thrice on different camps since our tests!

This two-person hammock is rated for two adults, but three of our tall and gangly teens were able to fit inside. It has a maximum capacity of around 660 pounds, which is way over our needs.

And yes…

…we’ve also tested it on four toddlers, and it stayed strong and stable even with the kids’ high energy!

Made from 210T parachute nylon material, this portable hammock has a bit of water resistance, as well as dirt resistance, thanks to its smooth surface. It’s also made to be fray and tear-resistant, and it was clean on its thick material.

But surprisingly…

…although tough, the fabric was somehow breathable, and I didn’t sweat one bit during the hours I was in it.

It came with two 6.7 feet tree straps as well as two carabiners. Installation was a breeze, fun even.

All you have to do is wrap the straps around the trees or your hammock stand, if you have one and push the strap through the loop according to the tree’s diameter. The straps have 9 loops for better adjustability.

What’s cooler …

…the straps were also made not only to be user-friendly but tree-friendly too! They have a flat design to protect the tree trunks from damage.

Well done, Hanmack!

In addition to that, it also has other purposes.

Aside from being a hammock, this biggie can also be remodeled to be a mat, a tent, a shelter, and many other things.

In case you’re feeling anxious about the strength of its 1-inch straps, just know that they’re reinforced with heavy-duty stitches, as well as the hammock itself with triple stitch seams.

And lastly…

…it has a built-in storage bag. Yes, built-in as in built into the hammock itself! I like that I won’t have to worry about losing the carrying bag anymore as I did with my other gear with cases. As a bonus, I was also able to use it as a pocket for my phone, books, and whatnots while I was using the hammock.

This two-person hammock comes with its own built-in and removable mosquito netting as well as ropes, straps, and carabiners.

Pros

  • Comes with mosquito net ropes, carabiners, and straps
  • With built-in mosquito net
  • Easily folded to fit in a backpack
  • It also includes a compression bag
  • Easy to clean and dry
  • Features a pocket for your things and accessories
  • lightweight

Cons

  • The straps don’t have loops so you’d have to make them yourself
  • Assembly could be a bit challenging for beginners
  • It doesn’t include instructions

Summary

Going hammock camping but worrying about deadly mosquitoes? We found a great deal for you in this Kepeak hammock with built-in netting!

It’s such a good deal that we made it this review’s Best Value.

You may find it a challenge to assemble and install, but aside from that, we were pleasantly surprised at its quality and portability, which we certainly didn’t expect from its price. It’s also very lightweight, so we initially expected it to be flimsy.

Boy, were we wrong!

Compared to the Editor’s Choice Hanmack double hammocks, this one is much, much lighter, so it’s way easier to carry around. They’re both nylon, but this one is somehow just a tad bit thinner.

But what got us was the mosquito netting. Sure, it doesn’t completely close around the hammock, but with some tinkling, I was able to wrap the whole top of the hammock with it.

As mentioned, the netting is built-in. But what’s cool is you can also remove it if you don’t want it.

It’s much shallower than the Hanmack one, though, but still deep enough for comfort.

As for its capacity?

It’s also around 660 pounds and can fit two average size adults. Although, I can’t promise you that it will be comfortable. It will still go down to your and your companion’s size. But for one adult, this is very spacious and comfy.

Assembly took me nearly ten minutes, but it could take longer if you’re a beginner.

The thing is, the hammock straps that it came with don’t have any loops. So you’d really have to get down and do the dirty work.

Well, not dirty, but you get it. Everything is manual.

You may have to call Google’s help or have someone with you who’s knowledgeable about knotting. But well, at the end of the day, it’s nice to learn a survival skill, isn’t it?

It also comes with a drawstring carrying bag, but it’s not built-in. If you love muted jungle colors, then you’ll love the color options of this hammock.

  • Easy assembly and set-up
  • Deep and comfortable for two people
  • Comes with a built-in bag

Cons

  • A bit bulky
  • The carabiners are a bit rough

Summary

If portability is your number one priority when it comes to your outdoor gear, then this Legit hammock is for you.

Legit hammocks are one of the most portable and easily-carried double hammocks that we found, making them this review’s Top Pick!

Its maximum capacity is just around 500 pounds, which is much lighter than the Editor’s Choice and the Best Value camping hammocks. But quite surprisingly, it proved to be one of the strongest, too.

Just imagine…

…two full-sized adults were able to fit in it comfortably and with more room to spare! It certainly wasn’t tight at all. I also tried lounging in with three children for an hour, and we didn’t encounter any problems. Not even any ripping sound. It just felt solid and stable.

No wonder, as it’s made to be on par with military-grade double hammocks.

If you’re lying in it alone, it’s pure heaven. There’s so much space that it felt like I was in a hammock bed or an actual sofa. I, a 6-foot tall guy- was even able to pull the hammock’s sides together and close them to hide!

In addition to that, this double hammock is also made from nylon, just like the first two double hammocks on this list.

But the deal is…

…this is interestingly softer that it felt like I was lying on a cotton hammock. How did you do that, Legit?

Installation was as breezy as out hammock camping. It came with hammock ropes and straps, which are also flat for the trees. The one mole in all of this, though, is the carabiners.

They felt light and rough right off the bat as if it wasn’t polished completely. It made me worry about them scratching the ropes, but one week of continued use passed without any such events, so I guess it’s still all good.

In fairness…

…the straps can take half of the merit as they’re exceptionally tough and strong. Legit says that they’re made with a 1,000-pound capacity, so that may explain the hammock’s strength.

It comes with its own built-in bag with a strap so you can attach it to your tactical bag or just carry it while walking.

The Bottom Line:

Coming at a very agreeable price, the wonder of this double hammock is it has both a mosquito net and a rain tarp.

Pros

  • It comes with a full mosquito net and tent tarp for protection
  • Built-in bag
  • It can also double as a picnic mat
  • Thick and resistant to tear
  • Rugged camouflage design
  • With pockets for your valuables
  • Perfect for summer

Cons

  • The straps only have one loop each
  • The rain tarp isn’t big enough for heavy rainfall
  • Lighter material than most hammocks

Summary

If it’s your first time sinking into using a hammock outdoors or just looking for something reasonably priced to try, this Beacon hammock that comes with a couple of exciting features may just be for you.

Straight to its highlight…

…this hammock has both a mosquito net and a rain tarp!

One part of it is the net, and one part is the solid hammock. If you don’t want to use mosquito netting, you can just flip it around! It’s so cool that I thought summer was already over.

Some people don’t like it that it’s too open, with the breeze freely coming in and out even from underneath. So what I did was put quilting over it, and lo and behold, it turned out as comfy as our home itself.

In case you’re wondering, it has the same suggested weight capacity as the Editor’s Choice hammock at 660 pounds. But somehow, this one felt much lighter in many aspects.

For one…

…it can definitely fit two adults at a time. But honestly, don’t expect it to be heavenly comfortable. If you have a big stature, it could feel a bit cramped.

On the other hand, the hammock held us up well with impressive stability and didn’t tear at all.

I immediately nodded right after getting in, although the netting kept getting on my face. I just clipped it together with the carabiner, and all was well.

But aside from that…

…it also comes with a rain tarp! The tarp isn’t very heavy-duty and big, but hey, it’s still more than what I paid for and expected of this hammock, so I won’t complain. And it did help me block the annoying afternoon sunlight more than a few times.

Although, of course, you won’t want to rely on it for actual heavy rainfall as it won’t even cover the entire hammock by itself.

This hammock comes with everything you need to install it, nails included. It also compresses well to fit in the carrying bag it comes with.

The Bottom Line:

Durable but soft, this is literally a bed in ropes. The high-quality nylon material almost feels like cotton with its softness while also providing a secure and stable hold for up to 500 pounds.

Pros

  • Beginner-friendly assembly and installation
  • Soft nylon material
  • Seamless stitching
  • Lots of cool colors to choose from
  • Super durable
  • Deeper than the others
  • The straps have 1000pounds weight capacity
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Cons

  • No mosquito net included
  • A bit heavier than other camping hammocks

Summary

Talk about strength in softness. This is literally a rope bed, as some of our kids in the camp called it.

And why not?

It’s so soft that we almost forgot we’re outside!

Like most double hammocks in this list, this is also made from nylon but military-grade. That said, it proved to be so as it’s literally indestructible. We used it much longer than the other best hammocks to test it out.

It caught on twigs a few times, had pencils prick it twice, and had been used in rugged conditions, but it’s still all in one piece after almost two months of using it weekly.

Good news for beginners…

…high-quality as it is, it’s newbie-friendly both in assembly and installation. It comes with adjustable straps and carabiners so you can decide the height that you want.

The carabiners felt a bit light, though, so I took extra ones with me for camping. But they didn’t break and held the hammock up even after many uses.

Moreover, it also has a satisfyingly accurate weight capacity which is 500 pounds. My hammock companion and I have a combined weight of 305 pounds. So we added an 11-year-old child with us, totaling 460 pounds.

We three used it for four hours while reading and bird watching. Suffice to say, it’s not only tough but also comfortable, even with the three of us inside.

That’s because it’s also much deeper than the lightweight hammocks that I’ve used before, so there was more space for us to lounge around!

And speaking of lightweight…

…this same hammock is also breathable, even if it’s heavier than the others. And yes, it has extra weight to it, just so you know.

It comes in many colors to choose from and has a built-in bag for storage or travel. It was a bit challenging trying to put it back inside the bag, but it’s still compressible and very portable once you do.

The Bottom Line:

A complete package, this 2-in-1 hammock can be flipped upside down depending on your needs and it also comes with a warm and thick underquilt lining to keep you toasty.

Pros

  • Soft and comfortable
  • Tear and fray-resistant
  • Features an underquilt for warmth
  • It also comes with a mosquito net
  • 2-in-1 reversible design
  • Comes with a built-in bag

Cons

  • A bit heavy
  • A bit bulky for travel

Summary

Tired of having a cold butt during hammock or car camping? Also tired of looking for a good quilt lining that will fit perfectly inside your hammock? Then this perfect deal is for you.

And when I say deal…

…it really is, as this portable hammock comes with its own quilting, so you don’t have to scour the market for one!

But before that, let me tell you first how comfy it was. It’s not a cotton hammock, but it sure felt like it.

Also made from nylon (a good 70D nylon). It didn’t feel synthetic at all. It actually felt like I was lying on my bed at home!

That said, it was a bit thin, so that added to its softness and breathability. Over it was a mosquito net to keep you safe from bugs wherever you may camp.

But for summer days…

…you can flip it over for a more refreshing hammock.

Surprisingly, it’s also made to be fray and tear-resistant despite its thinness. I haven’t tried testing it out yet (meaning: I haven’t torn it up yet), but it was sturdy enough to hold my companion and me for hours.

Just like the best hammocks on this list, it also came with tree ropes and a bag that’s attached to the hammock so it can act as an interior pocket when the hammock is up.

And of course…

…it comes with a very well-made under-quilt. It’s also almost as big as the hammock, so you can line the whole interior with the quilting!

It weighs around two pounds, and add to that the weight of the hammock itself, so it’s pretty bulky to store in the car, but the convenience and warmth it provided us was definitely worth it.

The quilting isn’t super thick, but it’s also not thin. In short, it’s warming during cool nights and enough to keep one’s back warm while still being breathable.

This underquilt also comes with its own bag as well as straps on the side to attach it to the hammock.

One of the best camping hammocks with mosquito netting, this one has a structured mosquito net so you can hang around safely and comfortably without any obstructions.

Pros

  • Cool colors to choose from
  • Easy to assemble
  • Features a structured mosquito net for safety
  • Great weight capacity
  • Long tree straps
  • Lightweight
  • Breathable
  • Comes with a built-in storage bag

Cons

  • A bit bulky when traveling
  • The carabiners feel light

Summary

You know that awkward moment when you’re trying to relax in your netted hammock, but then this stubborn piece of mosquito net keeps on getting in your face?

We found the answer to that.

This huge hammock comes with a mosquito net, but not just that. Its mosquito net is structured with bones that are still light for packing but are enough to hold the net up, so it doesn’t get in your face and ruin the moment.

Complex as it may look, it was still fairly easy to assemble. The tree straps are long, so we had more opportunities to adjust. They also have 19 loops so we had more height options!

Interestingly…

…it’s one of the very few camping hammocks that aren’t nylon. This one is made from polyester, so it’s not super breathable but was still surprisingly cool even after a few hours.

It’s also not waterproof, but it doesn’t absorb liquid spills that easily, so you have more time to clean.

This hammock has a weight capacity of 500 pounds, which is more than enough. The Interior was also so spacious that we were still able to fit inside (two adults and even a small child, but I don’t recommend it).

That said, it took more space on our car than the regular hammocks, but hey, with the structured net? It’s more than worth it.

If you’re looking for a fun and dependable double hammock for your family, then this Wise Owl Outfitters is for you. It’s also available in many colors to suit your personality.

Pros

  • Available in many cool colors to choose from
  • Sturdy but lightweight
  • Easy to pack
  • Comes with long straps
  • The straps have 5 loops each for adjustability
  • Also comes with a built-in bag
  • Triple interlocking stitching
  • Backed by Money-back guarantee

Cons

  • It could feel cold inside
  • You may want to make some modifications to it when it’s raining

Summary

This Wise Owl Outfitters kind of looks just like most camping hammocks on the market. But the difference is this one has a real large color selection. So that’s for you who like to customize everything in your arsenal!

But that’s not all there is to it.

Color isn’t the only thing you can customize with this baby. It comes with two hammock straps that are not only sturdy but also allow you to adjust the hammock’s height according to your comfort and preference.

These straps have 5 loops each, as well as carabiners.

The carabiners were surprisingly heavy, perhaps the heaviest ones I’ve held while testing the hammocks for this review. Quality-wise, that’s a good thing, definitely. But if you’re conscious of the weight of your belongings, then they might add up to the total weight.

Made from 210T parachute nylon, the fabric of this double hammock is lightweight and very fresh.

Yes, it’s a light fabric, so if you get cold easily outdoors, you may have to line its interior with a quilt, mat, or pillows, especially at night.

But for summer, that would definitely be an advantage! In fact, I didn’t break a single sweat during the whole 8 hours I was sleeping in it with a companion.

And speaking of a companion…

…this double hammock has a weight capacity of 500 pounds (the single one has a capacity of 400). I’d say it’s just right. We’re able to lay inside without any trouble.

The straps are longer than the others, too, so plus points to that!

In addition to that, it’s also made stronger with triple interlocking stitches, and that is why it didn’t give up on us even when two adults weighing 280 and 210 pounds slept inside for hours.

After the adventure, it’s also very easy to roll and pack away into its built-in bag since it’s a very light fabric. Of course, it wasn’t a hassle to carry, as well.

The Bottom Line:

This MalloMe hammock stands out for its impressive craftsmanship and quality, down to the strong carabiners and sturdy straps.

Pros

  • Waterproof
  • Anti fray and tear
  • Triple stitched and bar tracked
  • Great weight capacity
  • Generous strap length with 22 loops for adjustability
  • Strong high-tensile carabiners
  • Built-in bag
  • Very easy to pack
  • Breathable

Cons

  • The straps tend to collect wood debris sometimes
  • It could be too cool for the cold weather

Summary

Every part and component of this portable hammock is so well made that it felt like lying on a very expensive hammock every time we used it.

And by well made, I mean premium quality. It’s just a bonus that it’s reasonably priced.

It’s not a cotton hammock, but it actually felt like it the first time we unraveled and used it. It’s that soft. That said, it’s also a bit thin, but that’s what made it very breathable. Perfect for using a hammock outdoors in summer.

But here’s the catch:

The hammock itself has a weight capacity of around 400 to 600 pounds. But the hammock straps it came with have a 1000-pound weight capacity.

Of course, we have to test it out!

Using it alone felt like I was drowning in cloth. It was insanely big, and the hammock cocoon didn’t take its time to swallow me whole. So if you’re planning to use it by yourself, you can layer it up with some quilt and pillows just so it won’t fold up. Or you can just use spreader bars.

But with a companion…

…the hammock was more than enough. There is still more room to spare, and the fabric on the sides is still enough to shield you.

What’s cooler is the components it came with. It comes with hammock straps as well as carabiners. And let me tell you: the carabiners felt like they were bought separately from a specialty shop with their sturdy and premium feel and quality.

The same goes with the straps. They’re thick and dependable. Although, I just noticed that they tend to collect more wood debris than the other ones that I’ve tried.

It also comes with its own built-in bag that you can use as a pocket for your essentials while the hammock is in use. But unlike other hammocks, this one is much easier to fold and put back in the bag along with the straps and carabiners.

  • Spacious with more legroom
  • Durable but breathable fabric
  • The hammock straps have 17 loops for adjustability
  • Lightweight and easy to pack
  • 1-year replacement warranty
  • Comes with a built-in bag
  • Dirt, fray, and tear-resistant
  • Sturdy carabiners

Cons

  • A bit heavier than other two person hammocks
  • No netting

Summary

There’s no wonder this Easthills double hammock has been garnering countless rave reviews and repeat customers. It’s so huge and comfy that it has become my go-to hammock when I want to relax, too.

At almost 10 feet long, we expected it to be not much different from other camping hammocks. But later on, we found out that it actually felt bigger than the others.

It has more leg room, so I was able to lie in it with a companion who’s lying the other way around. It was fun, and it’s practical while being comfy, too.

It’s not only long, but it’s also very sufficiently wide, as well. Even with two people in it, the fabric on the sides was still enough to cover us completely.

It’s made from 210T parachute fabric with an emphasis on sturdiness. It has a weight capacity of around 400 to 660 pounds. But it was still able to hold us two adults and one child!

The hammock straps were equally sturdy and didn’t even budge.

What’s cooler…

…they have 17 loops, so we had better adjustability, and you can choose the perfect and exact height you’re comfortable with.

What’s surprising is that as heavy-duty as it felt, the fabric was light and breathable. It’s summer, and I didn’t sweat a drop over the whole night I was sleeping in it. Instead, it actually felt really cool.

What’s more is its tear, fray, and dirt-resistant. I actually managed to scratch it, and I worried the scratch would grow into a big hole, but it didn’t.

The fabric is also smooth enough to be easily wiped for cleaning.

The carabiner is one of the hardest and toughest ones I’ve used so far, so we were nothing but confident while using this hammock.

If anything…

…it’s a bit bulky when packed, especially if you don’t fix it or fold it properly when packing. It’s real big, I’m telling you.

Buyers Guide: How To Choose The Best Double Hammocks

A hammock is basically a floating bed for you, especially if you’re camping outdoors. That is why you shouldn’t only get one that’s aesthetically pleasing, but one that can hold you and your companion with stability even after repeated uses.

Here are the most important things to consider when getting a two-person hammock.

Size

This one is a no-brainer. A narrow hammock can only fit one person, and a short one is just for kids. If you’re aiming for a hammock that more than one person can use at once, then make sure to be critical of its size. It should be long enough for more leg space, as well.

Hammock Straps and Hammock stand

Some hammocks come with inclusions such as straps, ropes, or stands. This is not a must, but it sure is very convenient as these straps are already measured for your hammock, so they’re complimentary.

Additionally, make sure that the suspension system is durable and strong so it can hold you and your companion up safely.

Convenience

This includes ease of installation, use, as well as portability of the hammock. If you’re getting one for camping or your bug-out bag, make sure that it’s easy to install and pack.

Material

Soft fabrics sure are homey and cozy. But they won’t win in the outdoors. Water-resistant materials are always better if you’re looking for a camping hammock.

That said, most hammocks on the market are made from nylon or polyester, and it’s also good. These materials can be soft without that synthetic feeling.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Q – Are two-person hammocks comfortable?

A – Two-person hammocks can definitely be comfortable if they’re well-made, durable, and spacious. The best hammock for two people is one that also has an extra leg space aside from its width.

Q – Can two people sleep in a two-person hammock?

A – Yes, indeed. Two people can sleep in a double hammock as long as it’s spacious and durable with equally strong straps and carabiners.

Q – Is a double or single hammock better?

A – It always boils down to your purpose. If you’re getting one for the family, a double hammock is better as it can fit a couple and even children and dogs. If it’s only for yourself and if you hate big hammocks that swallow you up, then get a single one.

Our Analysis, Comparisons & Test Results

Value for Money

Not everything that’s expensive is a steal! Most of these hammocks are reasonably priced with 5-star qualities and features to boot.

Ease of Use

In the old days, you needed good scout skills to be able to put a hammock up. Thankfully, the best hammocks on the market can be installed by the most clueless newbie. This metric also includes ease in packing and maintenance.

Durability

We all know it: a hammock should be strong enough to hold you. But it’s not just the hammock itself. But we also took a look and tested the straps, stands, and carabiners.

Quality

A good hammock should have a good fabric and well-stitched seams. The same should go with the steel components and the straps. After all, your comfort and safety would depend on the quality of your hammock.

Portability

Hammocks are a great alternative to tents, just less stuffy. This is why we also looked at their portability. What’s nice is they all came in carrying bags that are mostly built-in and are very easy to fold, roll, and carry everywhere.
