You’ll never know what’s going to happen or when you’re going to need it. So when it happens that it’s one of the very few tools you have left, you can rest assured that it won’t die on you however rough the situation or the challenge is. 

That being said…

It’s a painful thing to do and to watch but we did perform drop tests on the spotlights that we’ve reviewed (especially ones that claim to be shock-proof) and for this one, it’s a six-feet drop test. 

The hard impact resistant ABS and polystyrene materials proved to be real dependable as this spotlight emerged still in one piece after the fall, with only a few scratches on the finish in the area that hit the ground.

So if you’re assembling an emergency kit or emergency bag, this is also a perfect addition to your essentials. 

With its durability…

It’s rugged enough that you can expect it to stay good and intact even after, say, an earthquake.

That alone is enough to make this bad guy one of the best handheld spotlights on the market today. 

And speaking of disasters…

Aside from its bright light and impact-resistant exterior, what makes it great for emergencies is itsIP67 waterproof feature.

That’s right, it’s electronic and it’s also waterproof!

You can use this spotlight in up to 3 feet deep water, so you don’t have to worry about it getting splashed in the shower, with rain on roadside emergencies, or even in a hurricane. 

In fact…

I’ve actually used it in an actual pool one evening when I had to find an anklet that I accidentally dropped, using the spotlight in the super bright high mode. 

It shouldn’t have come as a surprise, but we’re surprised anyway when it continued to work as usual after that incident!

Now, because this is a rechargeable handheld spotlight, it also comes with a USB cable. 

Looking at its rear side…

You’ll see a compartment where this cable is stored. In order for your spotlight to be waterproof and not break after being submerged, you’ll have to close and seal it completely and securely. 

Moreover, this sealed rear cover will also protect it from dust and moisture. 

Now, I’ve heard quite a few complaints about this feature. 

Some people saw it as inconvenient because you’ll have to pry the compartment open first, and then securely close it after use.

But I’m one of the more optimistic ones. 

I realized that it’s difficult to lose your cable that way and it’s way neater.

And speaking of the cable…

In case you’re wondering about its power source, it has a 2,600 mAh lithium-ion battery that you cannot take out and replace. 

On the brighter side, it’s rechargeable, which makes it even more perfect for disaster preparedness or even hiking and camping as you can just plug it in your power bank even if you’re in the middle of nowhere. 

So take note to include a high-capacity power bank in your emergency bag!

On the other hand, the charging time is quite long, so if you’re planning to bring this to a trip, you’ll want to charge it early on so you can have a full battery upon going out. 

If used continuously and without break…

It can last up to three to four hours. As for me, I haven’t done that yet and the last time I charged this was three months ago. 

Another thing, it can be recharged more than 1,000 times so if you got this for emergency purposes, expect it to last for years.

Moreover…

Its lamp beads life is over 100,000 hours. So if you have more than 8,000 hours in a year, just imagine how many years its life service will be!

Not bad for its fair price, eh?

Now, how bright is this spotlight’s LED bulbs are?

With its 10 Watts LED, it can give up to 900 Lumens. It’s not as bright as my more heavy-duty spotlights, but it’s actually bright enough to light up my whole backyard and go over 400 feet radius. 

It has not one but three brightness settings, too!

The first two light settings are high and medium and the third one is flashing or SOS mode, which is very useful for hiking outdoors, camping, or any survivalist situation. 

The first of its two modes, the high beam or floodlight mode was surprisingly highly powerful that it was able to illuminate my brother’s job site one evening when the sun set too early. 

The lowest setting is a faint and soft white and the range is still wide enough to survey a backyard. 

And that’s not all.

Aside from the three brightness settings, it also has a lock so you don’t accidentally switch the spotlight on or off. 

It weighs only 0.78 pounds and one of its advantages that I have found is that it’s lightweight enough for children, too!
