Our Verdict – Fox Knives Folding Karambit Review:
You shouldn’t hold back when it comes to defending yourself. But that doesn’t mean that you have to shell out a huge amount of money just to feel safe.
With the Fox Knives Folding Karambit, you can stop worrying about safety and affordability. This is our Best Value knife for so many reasons!
Namely…
A high-quality blade material, sharp and consistent edge, durable handle, and secure grip. All of those qualities were combined to form a great knife that’s convenient and easy to use.
It weighs 3.5 ounces, and its overall length is 7 inches. Its blade length is 2.25 inches which make its closed length 4.75 inches. This compact design makes it an everyday carry knife.
But that’s not all!
This product also has additional features that add to the style and functionality of the knife.
Its hook-shaped blade makes it look intimidating and, at the same time, adds to its defense capabilities. There’s also the patented Emerson wave feature and thumbhole that allows for fast deployment.
You’ll also find the pocket clip on the handle to keep you from losing your tool.
Only…
Some users find the liner locking mechanism a bit inconvenient. And after using it for a long, it can cause calluses on your fingers.
Based on our experience, the calluses are probable. But we have no complaints about the lock type.
And the best thing is…
You’ll see a finger ring at the base of the handle. Some use it as a lanyard hole. But it’s more useful than that!
It’s also called a retention ring because you’re supposed to slide your index finger through for a much more reliable grip.
So, all in all…
Fox Knives offer you a super sharp and sturdy knife of the highest quality blade and handle materials. It can cut through paper, wood, meat, and other stuff we tried it on – surely, it can cut through any danger you find yourself in.
Plus, it’s easy to carry and hard to lose. So you can anticipate a long relationship with this guy…
It’s the best knife you can get for as low a price like this!
Our Analysis. Comparisons & Test Results
Value For Money
As you can see…
This Karambit got a perfect value for money score. That’s because it’s our Best Value awardee!
There’s so much going on about this Fox Knives product that we couldn’t believe it actually costs less than most of the knives we found on the market.
We’ll lay out all the details when we go through the other metrics.
But generally…
With this knife, you’ll get almost everything you can ask for.
The right overall length, blade length, blade thickness, and weight make it compact and easy to carry. It’s also shaped so that it looks intimidating and effective in fighting off threats.
And then…
There’s the blade steel, handle material, and overall quality of this Karambit knife. It’s not over-the-top, but it’s more than what we expected based on the price.

Blade Quality
The Karambit’s blade thickness is 3 mm or 0.12 inches. That’s the standard for folding EDC knives – still compact but not too thin.
You might think it doesn’t look like much, especially with a 2.25-inch blade length, but this blade steel is strong and tough.
Which means…
This knife can cut through most things and won’t get easily damaged.
Even after several uses, you’ll find maybe a few scratches, but that’s all. We tried it with wood and meat and dropped it on the floor to test it – the blade steel didn’t break nor chip off.
Plus…
Straight from the box, you’ll find a very sharp edge and tip with excellent retention.
There will come a time when you have to hone it, of course. But that’s only after several heavy uses. For example, you had to cut a game with it, shave wood to start a fire, etc.
But when it comes to fending off imminent danger, this is reliable blade steel.
Also…
Rust won’t develop quickly too. You have to be careful with storage, of course.
After exposure to moisture or direct sunlight, just make sure that it’s clean and dry when you fold it, and you’re good to go.

Features
The market for knives and other defense tools is already saturated. So the manufacturers are now competing by adding unique features to their products.
Fox Knives made this Karambit with features that add to its style and purpose.
We’re talking about…
The Emerson wave feature combined with the thumb hole. Those two make opening this knife and locking it into place super easy and fast.
And the retention ring at the base of the handle is very handy.
We specifically found it helpful in securing a reverse grip. It ensures that the knife won’t fall off whether you’re holding it with a back or forehand.
But besides those…
The timeless features are still present. You’ll find a belt clip and lanyard hole so you won’t lose it. And there’s the line lock that will prevent you from accidentally hurting yourself.

Handle Quality
The additional features attached to the handle give a lot of advantages to this knife. But the real question is: is it still a good handle when we strip them off?
The answer is yes!
It’s made of fiberglass-reinforced nylon, one of the most recommended materials in the industry. That’s because it’s sturdy, durable, and comfortable to grip.
Fox Knives did it well with the Karambit’s handle. It’s consistent with the blade’s quality in terms of toughness and strength.
In other words…
We tested it by gripping the handle tightly and dropping the knife – folded and unfolded – from an appropriate height. There was no breakage, not even a crack. The lock didn’t even budge or loosen.
It means that it’s also safe to fend off an attacker with blunt force using the handle’s ring. It’s going to be effective.
This knife is indeed designed for convenience and effectiveness.

Safety
Other customer reviews we’ve read said something about the inconvenience of the line lock on this knife. So we tested it.
How?
First, we locked and unlocked the knife several times in a row. We checked if the screws loosened, watched out if it became too tight to deploy, and waited if it would ever get stuck.
So far, so good. None of those happened in our experience.
So we concluded…
Maybe it was a factory defect. It could be that the customer just happened to receive one of the few inconsistencies out there. Just their luck.
Still, we took a point off because this could happen to anyone. You might end up hurting your fingers because the knife’s lock malfunctioned.
But overall…
This Karambit knife is secure and safe to use, given that you’re careful enough and you know where to stick the pointy tip.
